Iceland & Norway Tour
in search of the Aurora Borealis Northern Lights |
An exclusive tour limited to a maximum of only 12 guests.
This small group escorted tour to Norway and Iceland is designed for our more adventurous guests who are happy to accept on the ground changes after the tour has commenced.
We will be touring Iceland in 3 private chartered 4 wheel drive Super-Jeeps, seeing icebergs on the black volcanic sand beaches, glaciers, geysers, snow fields and wild winter scenery.
In Norway we will cruise on one of the Norwegian Hurtigruten coastal cruise ships from Kirkenes north of the Arctic Circle to Bergen. Hammerfest, Tromso and North Cape and the fjords will all be seen during this cruise, giving us plenty of opportunities to see the Aurora Borealis northern lights as we relax and watch the world go by.

Aurora Borealis or The Northern Lights
Norway and Iceland are famous for having "the best seats" for viewing the Aurora Borealis ( the Northern Lights ) . If the sky is clear during this tour we should have many excellent chances to see this natural phenomenon, which is actually electrons hitting air particles, causing them to illuminate the night sky with a spectacular light display.
The Aurora Borealis is a natural phenomenon that occurs spasmodically throughout the year, but is only visible when the night sky is at its darkest. So in practical terms this means during the winter months. In fact February and March are historically very good months for recorded sightings by avid photographers.
Iceland
Nature lovers will be awe struck by the thundering waterfalls of Iceland and the original 'Geyser' geothermal field from which the name is now used around the world. You will be able to see Myrdalsjokull glacier, home to the sub glacial volcano Katla.
In Iceland we tour around by specially equipped 4 wheel drive Jeeps in order to take you way off the beaten track. Meet local bird watchers, farmers, nature enthusiasts as well as local guides, who can answer all your questions about this unique corner of our world. Birding is a major attraction here, where possible sightings could include Puffin, King Eider, Gyr Falcon, Ptarmigan, Great Skua, White-tailed Eagle, Goldeneye and Harlequin Duck.
Eruptions of Iceland's volcanos may alter our planned itinerary for this tour. Guests on this tour will certainly get an up close and personal view of the results created by the 2010 eruptions. Iceland is a much bigger land mass than it looks on a world map and there is much to be seen and done that is well away from any erupting volcano.

Norway
Cruise the picturesque fjords of far northern Norway, with their mirror still waters reflecting their surrounding glacier carved mountains. We sail from Kirkenes, far north of the Arctic Circle, past North Cape, the most northern point of Europe, Hammerfest and Tromso. Roald Amundsen used Tromso as the starting point for his famous expeditions to the far north and the city became known as the 'Gateway to the Arctic'.
Our cruise commences in Kirkenes, an arctic outpost near the Russian border, then sails south to Bergen. During this cruise you will see numerous uniquely picturesque ports all with their own charming characteristics.
We will also spend two nights in Bergen at the end of the cruise as well as two nights in Oslo in order to see the fascinating sights of each city. The scenic rail journey between Bergen and Oslo is also part of this tour .
Your flights between Oslo and Kirkenes and Oslo and Reykjavik are included in the price of this tour.
You can NOT book this tour through any travel agency !
We are only accepting direct bookings with our office, which is also a Licensed Travel Agency.
